Remembrance Sunday 13th November 2022

Following a service at St. John's Felixstowe : -
At the War Memorial,  the FMMC Wreath was laid by the ClubCaptain Timothy MacGuire who reported thus:-

The church service at St. John's in Orwell Road was well organised by Canon Dotchin with all the usual dignatories and the armed services cadets along with the standard bearerers.  He also led the service at the war memorial. It's very well organised and regimented along with the sad emotional aspects such as hymns like "Abide With Me" as reported by the ladies attending. A refugee lady called Natalie from war torn Ukraine laid the last wreath at the memorial.
Luckily the weather gods were kind to us all, with only a gentle warm autumn breeze from the south east. Derek Peters also attended the service on behalf of the old KGFS (Seafarers Charity) and we were next to each other in the wreath laying ceremony. I also met Malcolm Stafford afterwards who was in the large crowd attending. The Felixstowe Merchant Navy Association also attended and laid a wreath. They also had a standard bearer who carried the Red Ensign at both the church service and on the parade at the war memorial.
